The moment unfolded during Shelomi Sanders’ graduation ceremony, where family members gathered to mark her college achievement. The Sanders family, including Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders, stood together as the event progressed, drawing attention beyond the stage proceedings.
During the celebration, Shedeur Sanders referenced his own graduation experience while speaking to his father in front of attendees.
“Don’t tell me about what education can’t do,” Shedeur Sanders said excitedly. “I got my dad and my mama in the same room,” he added.
Standing next to Deion Sanders, Shedeur then brought up his own graduation day: “I’m trying to figure out why he didn’t go to my graduation, though.”
Deion Sanders responded briefly,“You didn’t tell me.”
Shedeur Sanders kept the tone light, choosing not to extend the joke further.
“As long as we’re all here, that don’t matter,” he said.
He then shifted focus back to family unity during the celebration.
“At the end of the day, FAMILY… This is what family’s about. We can share 1 elevator now,” said Shedeur Sanders.

Shelomi Sanders Graduation Marks Academic and Athletic Milestone
Shelomi Sanders graduated from Alabama A&M University in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies, concentrating in Sports Management.
As an HBCU graduate, she becomes the second of Deion Sanders’ children to graduate from a Historically Black College and University, following her brother Shilo Sanders, who graduated from Jackson State University in 2023.
Following her graduation, Shelomi Sanders is set to continue her basketball career at NCAA Division II Colorado State-Pueblo, moving into the next phase of her athletic journey.
