Deion Sanders is a big believer in setting up an alter ego for game days or whenever he has to grace the field. One of the best ways to bring that personality to the forefront is through music. Coach Prime himself has had a keen interest in music but this time he wants to translate tunes into results for his players with the help of a DJ in his CU locker room.

Many players use music as their pre-game rituals to bring their dawgs out of them, but Prime is taking that one step forward. Music has certainly been the ultimate mood-setter for football teams and Deion Sanders revolutionized that ambiance by hiring a designated DJ for his locker room.

DJ Fa’Dorah, the man behind Coach Prime’s theme music has though not received much attention for his work in the CU facility but he is certainly setting up history with the team.

Hiring DJs as the locker room beat master is something that not many teams focus on. Although Georgia installed a DJ booth in their locker room in 2017, but a personal DJ is something that Coach Prime believes will give them an extra edge in performance and commitment.

DJ Fa’Dorah’s Role In the CU Locker Room

In 2023 DJ Fa’Dorah was made the first-ever locker room DJ of CU, and his role has been pretty obvious.

As per Boulder Daily Camera, via DJ Fa’dorah’s website, “Fa’Dorah’s appointment is more than just adding music to the locker room on game day — it’s a strategic move designed to enhance team spirit and performance… His role goes beyond playing music; he’s an ambiance creator, a mood setter and a vital part of the team’s preparation ritual.”

DJs in locker rooms are certainly a value add that not many teams have pondered on.

Although the correlation between music and improved athletic performance is no secret but as per Sport and Exercise Psychologist Professor, Costas Karageorghis, via Live Science, “Music can positively affect your mood, decrease perceived effort, increase endurance and make athletes more efficient when it synchronizes with their movements. While listening to music, people have been able to run farther, cycle for longer and swim faster.”

Hence, Prime is using music to gain an edge in every training session with his players and not just limiting it to game days. But in fact, this brings even more energy during his game days. One big example of it would be Coach Prime’s viral pre-game speech that created all the hype in the world and of course, the man behind his theme music was DJ Fa’Dorah.

Life in Boulder

What makes Fa’Dorah a perfect fit for the Prime locker room is that he isn’t a stranger to the mountains. He was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, and knows the taste of his city in and out. Fa’Dorah has been playing music in and around Denver for 15 years.

Although spinning records is something he has a dying passion for, but during his High School days he was a state-ranked football prospect himself. However, he chose to pursue a dance program at Prairie View A&M University which became a decision that led him to co-found Unleashed Dance Studios in Colorado, thereby becoming a popular salsa instructor.

The closure of his dance studio marked a new beginning in his life that started with a challenging period when his mother was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer. He then took off to pursue a Master’s in Music with a focus on Composition from Colorado State University, fulfilling a promise he made to his mother before her passing.

His budding career in music eventually led him to the CU locker room, a place where he now fuels CU players every day with enough firepower to survive intense workouts.
