Bucky explained how his dad, met a stranger while traveling, and the man immediately recognized him.

The stranger responded with gratitude, saying, “You paid for my dinner years ago. You did something good for me. You were nice to me back on the days.”

He added, “I just want to say I appreciate you,” speaking directly to Coach Prime.

During the conversation, the man revealed, “I work for the NCAA clearance,” explaining his role in student eligibility processing. That detail became important when Sanders brought up his son’s situation.

Deion Sanders said, “My son is having a problem with the clearance house. They said his grades isn’t this or that,” referring to the challenges Bucky was facing in getting accepted into college.

It turned out the stranger worked directly in that department. After hearing the situation, he promised to look into it and help resolve the clearance concerns. That connection reportedly helped smooth the process that allowed Bucky to eventually enroll at SMU.

Bucky later confirmed the outcome, saying, “I enrolled in SMU in January.”

Reflecting on the experience, he added, “It’s a blessing,” describing how a forgotten act of kindness from years earlier came back around in an unexpected way and helped open a door at a critical moment in his academic journey.
