Speaking on Brian Howell’s show, Colorado athletic director Fernando Lovo stressed the importance of stability within the athletic department and keeping coaches in place for long-term success.
“I think it is a really, really important aspect of a successful department,” Lovo said. “So to be able to retain those coaches and continue to pour into their programs is really important for us.”
Earlier comments from Lovo to The Athletic also pointed to strong alignment between the athletic department and Deion Sanders. Lovo said decisions are made based on what Sanders needs to succeed as head coach.
The latest remarks suggest Colorado is focused on continuity while Sanders continues reshaping the roster and coaching staff heading into the 2026 season.
The Buffaloes entered the Big 12 with high expectations but struggled to maintain consistent results. Injuries, transfer portal movement, and defensive concerns contributed to uneven performances throughout conference play.
Even with those issues, Colorado appears committed to giving Deion Sanders time to continue building the program.
Away from the field, Sanders remains heavily involved in the school’s branding and recruiting efforts. This week, he shared potential 2026 Colorado Buffaloes uniform combinations on Instagram from his office overlooking Folsom Field.
The post featured several uniform designs along with Nike Air Diamond Turf colorways tied to the upcoming season. The images quickly gained traction across social media as Colorado continues using branding and visibility to strengthen recruiting.
Deion Sanders has long connected presentation and confidence within his program.
“If you look good, you feel good, you play good,” Sanders said.
