Shedeur Sanders spent part of his offseason in Boulder, where he worked with young quarterbacks under the guidance of Coach Marion. Coach Marion later reflected on the experience while also addressing the criticism surrounding Shedeur Sanders after the NFL Draft.
Shedeur Sanders Impresses Coach Marion
Coach Marion said Shedeur Sanders made a strong impression through both his knowledge of the game and his daily approach to preparation. During the session, Sanders helped teach quarterbacks the finer details of the position while emphasizing consistent work habits.
“I loved his intelligence. Just to see his work habits. I got to give props to #2 to see the way he was disrepected and drafted.”
Marion pointed to Sanders’ discipline and football IQ as qualities that stood out during the visit. His message focused on preparation, technique, and staying committed to improvement throughout the offseason.
The coach also discussed the challenges Sanders faced after the draft. According to Marion, Sanders continued training despite limited opportunities, keeping the same routine every day.
“No reps” yet he “go in there and win games,” added Coach Marion.
Marion explained that Sanders stayed committed by creating his own practice environment instead of waiting for opportunities to come.
“Running on his own, lifting on his own, bringing a receiver with him to throw to him… And working like there was a coach right beside him, he felt that pressure, and he rose to the occasion.”
Those comments highlighted the work Sanders continued to put in behind the scenes. Marion’s remarks also pushed back against the narrative that questioned Sanders following the draft, pointing instead to the preparation and consistency he witnessed firsthand.
The offseason visit allowed young quarterbacks to learn directly from an experienced player while giving Coach Marion an opportunity to share why he believes Sanders’ approach deserves recognition.
