Jacquees was arrested Sunday night in Hollywood, Florida, and booked into the Broward County Main Jail, according to jail records first reported by NBC 6 South Florida. The singer, whose legal name is Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, was booked on three charges: first-offense DUI, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting an officer without violence.
What actually led to the arrest hasn’t been made public. No police narrative or arrest affidavit has been released, and neither the circumstances of the DUI stop nor what happened during the alleged encounter with officers has been detailed beyond the booking information itself.
Records list him under a $0 bond with an “HG” hold designation, which requires a judicial bond hearing in front of a magistrate rather than an automatic release. He was expected to appear in bond court later Monday.
The 31-year-old is a Georgia native best known for his 2016 single “B.E.D.” and his 2018 hit “You,” and he’s placed four songs on the Billboard Hot 100 over his career.
He leaned into the “King of R&B” nickname back in 2019, naming an album after it, and stayed active more recently with 2024’s “Baby Making” and this year’s “Mood 2” mixtape.
Sunday’s arrest isn’t his first run-in with police. In 2023, Jacquees was arrested in Gwinnett County, Georgia, following an alleged altercation at a bar near the Mall of Georgia.
He was charged with simple battery and obstruction after a woman accused him of choking her and biting her hand, and police said he attempted to flee before an officer used a stun gun on him. He was released on a $3,700 bond in that case.
