Deion Sanders shared an important health update after Colorado’s spring football game on Saturday, revealing that he recently underwent another medical procedure related to recurring blood clots.
The Colorado head coach said the issue happened about three weeks ago, though he only made it public following the weekend’s spring game. Fortunately, the procedure caused him to miss only a few days, and Deion Sanders confirmed that he is doing well.

Deion Sanders said the recent procedure was done to address ongoing blood clot concerns that have affected him since before his first season at Colorado.
Speaking after the game, Sanders kept the update direct and reassuring, telling reporters that “he’s good” and expects to remain around Boulder throughout the summer. That marks a major difference from last year, when he spent much of the offseason recovering from an intense battle with bladder cancer.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you guys,” Sanders said at his post-spring game press conference.
His latest health setback comes after a series of previous medical issues. Sanders has dealt with blood clots for several years, and he also underwent surgery after a game last fall.
Even so, his presence around the program this offseason has already been noticeable.
“Everybody inside these doors could tell you it’s different when I’m here,” Sanders said Saturday.
That statement reflects how involved he plans to be with the Buffaloes in the coming months as the team heads into its offseason break.
Colorado Offseason Moves Forward
With spring football now complete, Colorado enters a few quiet months before summer workouts and training camp begin.
Deion Sanders made it clear that while he plans to take short breaks, he still wants to stay close to the program.
“I’m gonna go fishing, believe that. … I’m gonna take my breaks like every other coach. But I love to be here anyway.”
The update offers reassurance for Colorado fans after Sanders’ difficult health journey over the past year. For now, the focus shifts to the Buffaloes’ offseason preparations, with Sanders expected to remain actively involved in Boulder ahead of summer training.
