Deion Sanders has always carried confidence, and his car choices tell that story clearly. Long before the fame, and even before he fully knew how to drive, Deion Sanders already had a taste for bold rides. From a humble high school car to luxury coupes, his journey reflects both growth and raw ambition.
Deion Sanders First Cars
After finding success in the NFL, Deion Sanders quickly stepped into the luxury lane. His first two cars were a Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC and a BMW M3. Both choices showed his love for style and performance.
“That was the one,” said Deion Sanders referring to the 560 SEC Mercedes, adding that “that was like the Maybach right now.”
The Mercedes stood out as his favorite early on. It represented status, comfort, and presence. Meanwhile, the BMW M3 added a sportier edge to his garage, even if he was not fully ready for it.
Mercedes 560 SEC Upgrades
Deion Sanders did not keep his Mercedes stock. He wanted it to reflect his personality.
“It had only two doors but it was a big bodied car,” added Coach Prime. “Then I was ignorant. I had the top cut, you know. That was like 15 more bands to get the top cut.”
He went further with customization, giving it a black palomino interior that made the car feel even more personal. “It was black palamine interior and that was him.”
At the time, those upgrades were bold and expensive. Still, Sanders embraced them without hesitation. Looking back, he admits he was “ignorant,” but that phase showed how quickly success can shape decisions.
While his car choices looked impressive, there was one problem. He did not fully know how to handle them.
“Didn’t even know how to drive a stick,” and yet, Deion Sanders addsthat he, “Bought a little BMW M3.”
That detail adds a layer of honesty to his story. Even with money and fame, he was still learning basic skills. It shows how fast his life changed after entering the NFL.
High School Ride Memories
Before the luxury cars, Deion Sanders drove something much simpler. In high school, he had a 1974 Toyota Celica.
The car originally came in green, but his mom had it repainted red. That change gave it a new identity.
“One of my hommies told me, man, my seats looks like somebody busy a bag of piranas on them,” he said. Sanders says his mom had the car “painted red for me cuz it was green. We used to call it Little Red Corvette.”
Even though his friends joked about it, the car still played a big role in his early life.
Despite the teasing, his friends still showed up.
Deion Sanders says his hommies used to “jump in there and ride to school with me.”
That moment ties everything together. The same person who later drove luxury cars once shared rides in a simple coupe with friends who did not care about the condition.
In the end, his car journey mirrors his life. It started modest, moved fast, and carried lessons along the way.
