Deion Sanders Jr. Emotional Tribute to Carolyn Chambers
Speaking on the July 18 episode of Well Off Media, Deion Sanders Jr. opened up about the difficult journey his mother has faced after losing several close family members.
“She’s been through a lot,” Deion Sanders Jr. said. “She lost her brother. She lost her sister. And she da-n near lost everybody. You know, she still got us. But she lost a lot of her family. And through tough times, it’s really hard to trust God. And sometimes you ask God why. Sometimes you get mad at God. But she kept faith through it all. And she was still a great mother.”
His comments focused on how Carolyn Chambers stayed committed to her faith while raising her children despite experiencing repeated personal losses.
Carolyn Chambers married Deion Sanders in 1989, the same year he was selected fifth overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL Draft. As his football career quickly gained national attention, Chambers stood beside him during those early years of success.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Deiondra Sanders, in 1992 before Deion Sanders Jr. was born in 1993. Their marriage ended in 1998 after nine years together.
During the podcast, Deion Sanders Jr. also explained how his mother’s faith shaped the person he became.
“The woman (Chambers), where I get my love and my great heart, the reason I look out for everybody, this, and that. That’s why it’s a personal pursuit. This book means a lot to me,” Deion Sanders Jr. said.
“Not just because it’s my mom. It’s because it’s something she actually loves. It’s not just, ‘Oh, I go to church on Sundays, so I believe in God. I’m a Christian.’ No, this is something she actually lived from before I was born, to even to this day.”
After her divorce, Carolyn Chambers built a career in real estate and previously worked as a financial consultant. She also became an author while keeping a relatively private life away from the spotlight surrounding the Sanders family.
Although details surrounding the losses in her family have remained private, Deion Sanders Jr.’s recent remarks revealed the emotional challenges his mother has faced over the years.
