Deion Sanders’ First Relationship: Carolyne Chambers
Carolyne Chambers marked the first true romantic relationship for Coach Prime (at least publicly), which lasted for 9 years before they called it quits.
The relationship kicked off in 1989 when Deion Sanders approached Carolyne Chambers in her car and introduced himself as Prime Time. Initially skeptical, Carolyne Chambers hesitated to give Prime her number, but they later communicated and planned their first date.
The same week they met, they organized their first date. This became a routine. And you know how strong the bond gets with these random frequent dates. So they two grew quite close, meeting up often and talking their hearts out.
Eventually, Deion tied the knot with Carolyne Chambers in 1989, and they built a commendable life as a couple. Their union was blessed with two children, Deiondra Sanders and Deion Jr. (Bucky).

After his first divorce, Deion moved on to his next marriage with Pilar Sanders in 1999, a union that lasted for 12 good years.
When they met, Deion Sanders was tiring of a successful football career, and his Prime Time had taken off. He was a big name in the NFL and MLB. Pilar Sanders was also a well-established model, working on the set of the Sitcom, In The House. As a thriving model, she had already signed with premium modeling agencies like Irene Marie and Ford Models.
Their relationship progressed rapidly, leading to their marriage in 1999, a ceremony officiated by Bishop T. D. Jakes in the Bahamas.
A year later, they welcomed their firstborn, Shilo Sanders, then had Shedeur Sanders in 2002, and their lastborn, Shelomi Sanders, in 2003.

While the last marriage had ended quite peacefully, all things considered, the second union took Deion Sanders through quite a trying time.
Things took a worse turn when Deion filed for divorce in 2011, something Pilar couldn’t take lightly, claiming that it all took off behind her back. A series of legal battles followed. Custody disputes extended the trauma to the children, who at one time had to step into court.
Finally, the divorce materialized in 2013, adding more burden to Deion, who had to pay a monthly child support fee of $10,500 to Pilar Sanders. As a result, their relationship got quite strained, but they’ve always strived to show support to their three children.
Deion’s Relationship With Tracey Edmonds
Deion and Tracey Edmonds crossed paths at a movie premiere party in 2013, when the latter was an honoree, while Sanders was a guest.
Deion sent a friend to get Edmonds’ business card and reached out to her a few months later, though he kept things professional at first. Fast forward to 2019, and the two got engaged. Speaking to People, Edmonds said:
“I started off thinking I was just going to produce [Deion’s Family Playbook], but as I started working with Deion on the show, we grew quite fond of each other and ended up dating.”
Things took a different turn in December 2023, when the couple announced their breakup after Deion’s debut season at Colorado.
In a message that showed appreciation for their time together, Deion Sanders confirmed their breakup to their fans. Deion’s message read, “Love u Tracey, and You’ve been a true blessing to me. I appreciate the times we’ve shared and the laughs we’ve had. You are an amazing woman and a tremendous mother. God bless u with every endeavor and every step u take. You are HER. Tracey-Mack.”
Apparently, the couple came to the decision amicably. They even worked together on an Instagram post to let their fans know that they respected one another as they embarked on separate ways moving forward.
In a deleted social media post, the couple wrote the following:
“To Everyone who has been there for us, supported us, and shown us love… We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life As Friends and have made this decision with love in our hearts, respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we’ve shared together.”
Appreciating the unwavering support from fans throughout their journey together, Deion and Edmonds also asked to be kept in their prayers as they went their separate ways.
Deion’s Rumored Relationships
As a man who’s found himself falling into romantic relationships with popular women in acting and modeling, Deion’s often been under the lens for his relationships. Most recently, Coach Prime found himself in romance rumors involving actress Karrueche Tran.
The rumors spiraled when Deion Sanders and Karrueche Tran were seen holding hands outside a Los Angeles restaurant.
This isn’t the first time Deion and Tran have crossed paths. The two previously worked together through projects produced by Deion’s ex-fiancée, Tracey Edmonds. Tran took a role in a series, ‘Games People Play’, which might have sparked a strong connection with Deion.
