Pilar Sanders shared her thoughts on when Shilo Sanders should start a family during a recent conversation with her son. The discussion began after Shilo revealed that his brother, Shedeur Sanders, believed it might be time for them to have children. Pilar, however, encouraged both of her sons to focus on enjoying this stage of their lives before taking that step.
Pilar Sanders Explains Why Shilo Should Wait
The conversation started when Shilo Sanders said, “Shedeur said he thinks it’s time for us to get started with kids.” That prompted Pilar Sanders to share a different view.
“I think you guys are too young right now,” she said.
Pilar explained that both Shilo and Shedeur are currently in an important stage of life where they should enjoy their freedom and personal growth.
“You are in the Prime of your life, so I think you need to enjoy life a little bit more,” said Pilar Sanders.
She then expanded on her point by saying, “Like on a single level, with no children, like no luggage,” explaining that they should experience more of life before becoming parents.
Even so, Shilo continued the conversation by asking his mother how old she was when she had him.
“I was 26,” Pilar replied.
She also explained that although she became a mother at a relatively young age, she had already accomplished many of the personal goals she wanted to pursue.
“I was modeling, I was acting,” Pilar Sanders said, adding that she had also lived on her own for a while before starting a family.
She noted that becoming a parent was something she had wanted for a long time, making her situation different from Shilo’s.
Pilar then pointed out that she never heard Shilo talk about wanting a large family while growing up.
“You never grew up talking about, oh mommy I want to have a big family,” added Pilar.
The discussion ended with Pilar Sanders explaining that her advice was based on where Shilo is in life today and on the different priorities she believes he has compared to the ones she had before becoming a parent.
