Jimmy Horn Jr.’s father has been incarcerated for quite some time now, and now the ex-Colorado wide receiver is asking fans to help bring him home.
It’s a personal battle that’s been quietly shaping Horn’s journey, even as he shines on the field. Through it all, Deion Sanders has stepped in as more than just a coach.
Since Jimmy Horn Jr. arrived at Colorado, Coach Prime has acted like a second father to him, guiding him through some of the toughest moments of his young life. One of those moments came on senior day, when Sanders walked beside Horn during an emotional ceremony in place of his absent father.
Their bond, raw and authentic, has been on full display, especially in the latest season of Amazon’s Coach Prime. Sanders even recalled a “tear-jerking” scene involving Horn, showing just how deeply he invests in his players’ lives off the field.
Now, Horn’s story is reaching beyond football, and he’s turning to the public for help.

The Carolina Panthers’ wide receiver recently shared a link on his Instagram story, encouraging followers to fill out a form as a show of support.

By leveraging his platform, Horn hopes that public attention might help move things forward.
Why Is Jimmy Horn Sr. Is Incarcerated?
Jimmy Horn Sr. has been incarcerated since 2021 on multiple drug-related charges, cutting him off from witnessing his son’s rise in college football.
His sentencing came on August 14, 2024. And while the exact timeline for his release remains uncertain, the weight of that absence is heavy on his family.
Also, there have been heartfelt efforts to support Jimmy Horn Jr.’s father’s release, including one from Coach Prime himself.
In a message to the judge, Sanders pleaded,
“Your Honour… I just want you to know that I’ve talked to Jimmy Horn Sr. and, truly, he has served a multitude of years. He has repented for what has transpired… I just wish to God you could see in your heart an opportunity that he could come out of incarceration and have a chance to resume his fatherly responsibility.”
Given the emotional toll and ongoing uncertainty, it’s no surprise that Jimmy is now urging fans to help bring his father home.
