Deion Sanders’ Colorado Just Landed 2 of Top-100 Transfers Of This Offseason, One Is a QB

Deion Sanders, head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes football team, has turned out to be one of the most prominent figures in college football. His charisma and strategic and aggressive use of the transfer portal to reshape his roster have helped him rebuild entire units with seasoned players.

Though his approach may seem off to some traditionalists, it has enabled him to change the landscape of college football recruiting. And most recently, Deion Sanders managed to bring 2 of ESPN’s top 100 transfers to the Buffs.

DL Jaheim Oatis

Transferring from Alabama now to the Colorado Buffaloes, Jaheim Oatis has a record of impressive football performance and potential to be an NFL talent.

It’s not the first time Oatis has made it to ESPN’s top transfers. He was no. 38 in their 2022 top 300 and started  13 games over his first two seasons with the Crimson Tide.

Also, Oatis has kept an outstanding performance despite shoulder, knee, and ankle injuries in 2024. His 52 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and 1.5 sacks during his time at Tuscaloosa, and his size make him a potential NFL talent.

Oatis isn’t just massive. He’s outstanding with his good burst off the snap with a low pad level to get an upfield push. Besides, his powerful hands render him a robust bull rusher, perfect for collapsing the pocket versus the pass.

The fact that he battled injuries in the 2024 off-season, and still came out as a unique talent shows how reliable he is on the field.

So, what is he bringing to the Colorado Buffaloes? With his amazing stats, it’s clear that Oatis is coming to add more power to the Buffs’ front. Besides putting up an impeccable football record, his resilience and versatility are admirable. He’ll surely tighten up the Buffs’ defensive line.

QB Kaidon Salter

Deion Sanders is also out to strengthen the Buffs’ QB room. That has now been confirmed with the second transfer, a skilled QB, Kaidon Salter, from Liberty.

Salter came to fill a gap in the Buffs, and what’s in store is worthy of his recruitment to the team. He’s a veteran one-year starter who’s highly skilled and is about to bring serious competition to the freshman Julian Lewis. That will help nurture the young talents in the Buffs by giving them a challenge to develop their skills.

Salter’s strength and talent aren’t by chance. He’s spent years moulding it. In his career, he’s recorded 5,887 passing yards, 77 touchdowns with 31 turnovers, and 2,013 rushing yards. He also made a historic record for Liberty in 2023. His achievements included:

  • A 13-0 run
  • A trip to the Fiesta Bowl
  • A Conference USA Title

With these stats, you can agree that Salter is multi-talented on the field. Now, the Buffs can rely on his versatility to make incredible plays on the move, and improve the accuracy with his precise throws even down the middle of the field.

So, while Oatis brings power and size on the defensive line, Salter will add dynamic playmaking at the QB position. Overall, the two recruits reflects Deion’s sharp eye in the transfer portal, and are here to boost the Buff’s competitiveness.
