Browns Free Agency Move Suggests They Want Shedeur Sanders To Win the QB1 Spot

The buzz around Shedeur Sanders keeps getting louder in Cleveland. After the Cleveland Browns made several key moves in free agency, many fans and analysts believe the front office is quietly setting the stage for Shedeur Sanders to take control of the QB1 job.

The Browns focused heavily on strengthening the roster around the quarterback position. That strategy points toward a real competition in training camp. And if the roster upgrades perform as expected, Shedeur Sanders could walk into the best situation of his young career.

Browns Add Key Free Agents

Cleveland attacked free agency with a clear mission. The team signed players who improve protection, depth, and overall balance.

The Browns agreed to a two year deal with Elgton Jenkins, adding a proven presence to the interior offensive line after his release from Green Bay. They also signed guard Zion Johnson to a three year contract, bringing starting experience from the Chargers.

On defense, Cleveland added linebacker Quincy Williams on a two year deal. The move strengthens the middle of the defense.

The Browns also added tight end Jack Stoll for depth. Meanwhile, punter Corey Bojorquez returned after re signing with the team. Cleveland also brought back Teven Jenkins to continue building the offensive line.

According to radio host Anthony Lima, those moves help Shedeur Sanders directly.

“For Shedeur Sanders is a massive win,” said Lima.

He also pointed out how the outcome could have looked very different.

“If they brought in Malik Willis, that would have been a big time loss,” he added.

Cleveland Focuses on Protection

The Browns clearly understand what Shedeur Sanders dealt with during his college career. At Colorado, he often played behind an offensive line that struggled in protection.

That experience forced him to extend plays and operate under pressure. Now Cleveland appears focused on preventing that same situation.

With multiple offensive linemen added or retained, the Browns are building a stronger pocket. That approach benefits every quarterback in the room, but it especially helps a playmaker like Shedeur Sanders.

Shedeur Sanders Status Amidst QB1 Battle

The quarterback room still features veteran Deshaun Watson, so the Browns expect a competition.

Still, local analysts believe the opportunity sits right in front of Sanders.

“I think it’s Shedeur’s job to lose,” said Ken Carman.

Carman also highlighted Sanders’ toughness.

“Shedeur is used to running for his life. He had to do it in Colorado. He had to do it to some certain degree last year,” Carman added.

He also explained how fans inside the city view the situation.

“But those who are outside of Cleveland I just don’t think they understand how the fan base feels about the entire quarterback room,” Carman said.

Draft Rumors Still Linger

Even with the current competition forming, draft rumors continue to circulate. Some mock drafts suggest offensive coordinator Todd Monken could show interest in quarterback Ty Simpson, given their past connection.

Still, the Browns’ free agency strategy sends a clear message. Cleveland wants a strong roster around its quarterback. And right now, that situation could give Shedeur Sanders the perfect chance to claim QB1.
