Warren Sapp’s departure from Colorado is now official, and a social media post from his girlfriend has added a personal layer to the developing story.
The update comes after Colorado confirmed that Warren Sapp has resigned from the football program following two seasons on Deion Sanders’ staff.
Warren Sapp Heads To Florida
The post strongly indicates that Sapp is heading back to Florida, the state most closely tied to his NFL legacy and personal roots. Sapp starred for the Miami Hurricanes football in college before building his Hall of Fame career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In an Instagram story shared by Warren Sapp’s girlfriend shortly after the news broke, the message read: “Well Colorado… Thank you for 2 awesome years, for the new friends and the fun memories. This chapter is closed! On to bigger and better things! Cheers to Life!!!” The post also included a travel image and the caption, “Back to Florida we go!”
At this point, no official role has been announced for Sapp in Florida.
Colorado’s athletic department said only that Sapp resigned “to pursue other opportunities.” The school did not specify whether those opportunities involve coaching, media work, or an NFL advisory position.
Sapp had most recently served as Colorado’s defensive pass rush coordinator after initially joining the staff as a graduate assistant. During his time in Boulder, he worked closely with the defensive line and helped mentor the Buffaloes’ front seven.
