Deion Sanders is continuing to stress discipline and professionalism ahead of the upcoming college football season, and this time his message focused on something as visible as the way players wear their uniforms.
Speaking to his Colorado team, Deion Sanders used some of the NFL’s biggest names as examples while explaining how he wants his players to present themselves on the field.
Deion Sanders Uses NFL Stars as Example
Deion Sanders specifically pointed to Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen while addressing his players.
“These are arguably some of the best two quarterbacks in the NFL,” said Deion Sanders referring to Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. “Look where their pants are,” instructed Deion Sanders, while showing a picture of the players.
By using two of the league’s most recognizable quarterbacks, Sanders tied his message directly to the professional level his players hope to reach.
“The goal is pro,” added Deion Sanders. “Are you really invested in that? Are you really giving it your all?” Deion askedDeion asked his players.
The message connects appearance with preparation and commitment. Sanders has consistently emphasized that every part of a player’s approach, from practice habits to game-day presentation, reflects how seriously they take the sport.
Shortly after referencing Mahomes and Allen, Sanders used the moment as a teaching point for the Buffaloes locker room, reinforcing the expectations he wants in place at Colorado.
Deion Sanders’ Previous Uniform Comments
This is not the first time Deion Sanders has spoken publicly about how football players should wear their uniforms.
At Big 12 Media Day, Sanders previously addressed what he sees as a growing trend in the sport that he does not support.
“Let’s do something about the uniforms. We’ve got guys in biker shorts. That makes me sick because I’m a football guy. I played this game at a high level, and I have so much respect for this game,” said Deion.
He added that, “How can we allow guys out there in biker shorts, no knee pads, no nothing, literally pants up under their thighs, and that’s cool? … I think there should be a fine implemented for that stuff, and let’s have more respect for this tremendous game.”
That earlier statement lines up with his latest remarks to Colorado players.
By referencing NFL stars such as Mahomes and Allen, Sanders appears to be reinforcing the same standard he has already discussed publicly: wear the uniform properly, respect the game, and prepare like a pro.
For Colorado, the message remains centered on discipline, details, and building habits that mirror the professional level players are working toward.
