Shilo Sanders had a light but revealing moment during a recent hair appointment when a routine scalp treatment quickly turned into a conversation about hair loss and family genetics.
The 26-year-old former Colorado safety appeared concerned after his hairdresser explained that she was applying a scalp treatment as part of a growth plan to keep his scalp clean and healthy.
That explanation immediately caught Shilo Sanders’ attention and led to a string of questions about whether he could be dealing with the same baldness pattern as his father, Deion Sanders.
Shilo Sanders Reacts To Scalp Treatment Talk
During the appointment, Shilo Sanders first responded with surprise after hearing he was being put on a growth plan.
“You’re making it seem like I need extra help!” he said.
The hairdresser then clarified that the treatment was simply to “make sure the scalp is clean and healthy.”
Still, the mention of scalp care quickly made Shilo wonder whether something bigger was going on. He followed up by asking, “Are you saying that it’s going bald?”
According to the conversation, the stylist explained that the goal was to work on prevention and monitor his scalp health so that hair loss does not become an issue later on.
That led Shilo to joke about inheriting what he called “Deion Sanders syndrome,” directly referencing his father’s well-known bald look.
“So you’re trying to say I have Deion Sanders syndrome?” Shilo asked.

“I’m 26. At this point I should already be bald if I’m going bald, so I think I’m good now,” he said.
The hairdresser corrected that assumption, explaining that hair loss can begin later in life and is not always apparent in someone’s mid-20s.

Wanting a clear answer, Shilo Sanders decided to call his father directly during the appointment.
When asked when his hair loss began, Deion answered, “I think 33.”
That response appeared to catch Shilo’s attention because it placed the timeline several years ahead of where he currently is.
Deion also explained what he believes caused it. “hereditary. Like, you take on the thought process come up… Your hair takes on the process of your father.”
