CU Safety Ben Finneseth Hits the WWE Tryouts, Calls Deion Sanders To Share Updates

CU safety Ben Finneseth still has one year of eligibility left at Colorado, but he is already exploring every option for a successful career beyond football.

This week, that journey sent Ben Finneseth to Orlando for the WWE tryouts, where he tested himself on one of the biggest stages in sports entertainment.

Finneseth kept Coach Prime in the loop throughout the experience and even called him to share updates from the tryout floor. With his future wide open, the Buffs safety is making sure no opportunity goes unchecked.

Ben Finneseth Opens Up About His WWE Tryout Experience

CU safety Ben Finneseth is enjoying new opportunities and making new connections outside the world of football. “The WWE flew me out for a tryout in Orlando, Florida,” said Ben Finneseth, also adding that he’d be there for five days. “I got here Sunday, then I’ll leave Friday.”

Once he arrived, it did not take long for reality to hit. Finneseth quickly learned that WWE training is a different kind of grind. “It’s tougher than I thought. Like, they beat the crap out of us for sure,” added Ben. The physical demands pushed everyone in the room, but he embraced the challenge and stayed locked in from start to finish.

Despite the intensity, Finneseth was impressed by the environment and the people around him. “But it’s been good. We got some… some good talent around here.” Being surrounded by elite prospects only made the experience more rewarding.

For Ben Finneseth, the competition and coaching created the kind of atmosphere that pushes athletes to another level. “It’s been a supercool experience,” he said.

Throughout the process, Coach Prime stayed connected with his safety, offering guidance and encouragement. Ben Finneseth made sure to acknowledge Deion Sanders for helping open doors and push him to expand his network. “And yeah, couldn’t have done it without you.”

Deion, in return, made it clear how proud he was of Ben for taking the leap and building new connections. “I’m proud of you,” said Dieon Sanders to Ben Finneseth.

The conversation then shifted back to Boulder, where Coach Prime reminded Ben about their big recruiting weekend coming up and sent him off with confidence. “You’re gonna knock it out of the pack… Love you, man,” said Deion Sanders.

Whether it’s on the football field or under WWE lights, Ben Finneseth is making sure every door stays open.
