“He Definitely Warns You”: Lauren Askevold Reveals How Deion Sanders Preps His Staff To Be In Front Of the Cameras

Deion Sanders just beat a life-threatening battle with cancer, and through it all, his personal trainer Lauren Askevold was right there with him, day in and day out. In a recent podcast, Lauren opened up about what it’s really like to work with Coach Prime, especially when the cameras are always rolling.

She shared that when she first joined the team, she had no idea just how public things would be. “At first I was like you actually can’t record this stuff,” she recalled. But with Bucky’s media team constantly filming content for their Colorado vlogs, privacy isn’t really part of the job.

Still, Lauren stayed optimistic. “Bucky and his team… they do a great job and even there they edit so well.” According to her, Deion definitely warns his staff that this is part of the package, being ready to perform in front of the cameras.

How Deion Preps His Staff for Fame

When it comes to building a strong program, Coach Prime doesn’t just train his players; he preps his entire staff for the spotlight. Lauren Askevold, Deion Sanders’ personal trainer, recently shared what it’s like to work with him, especially when media attention is always part of the job.

“Coach preps you for a lot of stuff too,” said Lauren.

From the start, Deion made sure Lauren Askevold knew what to expect. He didn’t sugarcoat the reality of being behind the scenes. “He warned me,” she said. “He’s like, listen, like you know a lot of trainers don’t get a lot of love.”

She continued, “We’re behind the scenes, like superheroes type of thing, you know.”

But Coach Prime had bigger plans. “He was like, you know, this is going to be a great opportunity for you,” Lauren recalled. “Like, I’m going to put you on this pedestal.”

Then came the challenge: “Thrive with it. Like, run with it.” And that’s exactly what she did.

Lauren Askevold said, “I think I just happen to be that person that could do that.” Clearly, Deion saw something in her and helped her rise to it.

Lauren Askevold Now Embraces the Spotlight

Over time, Lauren Askevold has grown completely comfortable with the ever-present cameras surrounding Coach Prime’s world. Though it was intimidating in the beginning, she’s now fully adjusted to life in the public eye.

“At first I was very scared,” Lauren Askevold admitted. “But I’m never scared anymore to be in front of a camera with them because they’re always going to shine on you in a positive light.”

Her confidence today is a reflection of how Deion Sanders and his media-savvy team support their staff. For Lauren Askevold, the spotlight isn’t intimidating; it’s just part of the job.
