Deion Sanders recently went through his 16th surgery, and just before the operation, he received a FaceTime call from his son, Shedeur Sanders.
What began as a lighthearted moment quickly turned into a viral one. Shedeur joked that Karrueche Tran might’ve brought some “bad luck” to the Sanders clan.
Everyone laughed, but that comment may have carried more weight than anyone realized. Fans on the internet too connected the dots and suggested that Shedeur could be speaking from his heart. Because when you look at how life’s been unfolding for Coach Prime ever since Tran entered the picture, the surgeries, setbacks, and strange turns, you can’t help but wonder, was Shedeur really joking?
Shedeur’s FaceTime Joke Bears a Sharp Edge Over Time
Just before Deion’s 16th operation, Shedeur Sanders joked, “Ever since she started coming around, everything started going downhill,” hinting at Karrueche Tran. In the background, Karrueche quickly responded: “That is not true,” deflecting the jab in real time.
It may have just been a joke, but when you look back at Deion Sanders’ health spiral since Karrueche Tran became a part of his story, the timing feels intense.
From the cancer diagnosis in April to the blood clot surgery, the turbulence has been relentless. Besides, the Buffs have had a very tough season, dropping to 2-4 after a 35-21 loss to TCU in Fort Worth. Their defense has struggled badly, ranking No. 94 nationally in stop rate, a steep drop from last year’s performance.
Once ranked eighth in sacks per game (3.1), Colorado now sits at 81st with just 1.7, highlighting the team’s ongoing challenges on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Shedeur and his brother Shilo face their own battles in the NFL ever since the draft. Shedeur now assumes the role of QB2 with the Browns after months of relentless effort, and Shilo is still chasing an opportunity after being released by the Bucs on August 26, 2025.
