Should the Browns Hire Deion Sanders To Coach Shedeur and His Team?

There has been an ongoing debate about whether the Browns should hire Deion Sanders as their head coach after they fired Kevin Stefanski recently.

Deion Sanders has been a valuable coach for many years, transforming players into their best versions, unlocking potential and instilling discipline that has helped his college players like Travis Hunter reach the NFL and succeed there.

He’s also worked closely with his son Shedeur Sanders, getting the best out of him on and off the field. That track record and several other factors have fueled the discussion on how suitable he might be for the Browns.

Why Deion Sanders Could be an Excellent Browns Hire

Analysts are laying out clear reasons why the Browns should consider hiring Deion Sanders, and Emmanuel Acho is leading that charge. “Who has always gotten the most out of Shedeur? It’s Deion Sanders,” said Acho.

He admitted Deion might not be the best “X’s and O’s coach,” but stressed that he is “a greater motivator of men.”

Acho believes the Browns can build the right structure around Deion. “Keep Jim Schwartz. Do not let him leave the building,” he said, pointing to the need for defensive stability. On offense, he added, “Go get you an offensive coordinator that you think can win.”

With Deion in charge, Acho sees instant buzz and impact. The Browns would, “win the battle of fame. At minimum, you’ll win the battle of excitement.” That attention alone could change how the team is viewed across the league.

But for Acho, it all comes back to the quarterback. “You’ll get what you need out of Shedeur.” He explained that “Getting Deion to Shedeur is just as valuable as getting another receiver… because you’re going to unlock the best out of Shedeur.”

These are interesting takes, considering that Deion Sanders himself had previously said he’d consider an NFL job to coach Shedeur and Shilo.

However, some analysts have contrary opinions regarding Deion’s chances of becoming the Browns HC.

Why Deion Sanders Could Face a Challenge to Become Browns Head Coach

Still, another analyst sees it truly difficult for Coach Prime to land the Browns head coaching job. The biggest issue starts with Colorado’s recent record. “Nobody is going to hire a coach… when you finished under 500,” said the analyst, pointing directly to the Buffaloes’ tough season.

Still, Deion would walk into the building with instant authority. “Everybody gonna respect him,” the analyst said. But that respect would not last forever.

As soon as you start losing, or as soon as you start doing something that they don’t like, they don’t care. It don’t matter you Prime.” In the NFL, reputation only carries you so far.

There is also uncertainty around the quarterback situation. “We don’t even know if the Browns feel like Shedeur is the, uh, answer as quarterback for the future,” added the analyst.

If the Browns are not fully sold on Shedeur as their long term guy, hiring his father becomes a much harder sell.

Emmanuel Acho, however, offered a strong counter. He argued that “an NFL organization can hire a coach even if they don’t succeed at the previous level because of the coach’s relationship with the quarterback.”

To back it up, he pointed to the Cliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray situation in Arizona. “They made it to the playoffs. That got better every season for the first three seasons, from I believe, three wins to five wins, to 11 wins,” said Acho.

He summed it up by saying, “On the surface, it might seem ludicrous, but we literally saw it play out, and we saw them succeed with it.”

For Deion, the path is possible, but far from guaranteed.
