“I May Reside In Georgia But It’s Not Where It Started”: Travis Hunter’s Mother, Ferrante Edmonds, Wants To Give Back To Her Community In Florida & Georgia

After absolute domination in college, the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to pick Travis Hunter as their No. 2 overall. And now he is bound to make a fortune in his rookie contract.

This means more financial muscle for himself and his mother, who always had an interest in giving back to the community and the youth. And from what Travis Hunter is about to sign, his mother’s dream of giving back is beckoning with more passion and promise.

Travis Hunter’s Projected Earnings From His Rookie Contract

Travis Hunter is projected to sign a record rookie contract worth $45-50 million over the next four years. In fact, most of this could be guaranteed upfront, thanks to Hunter’s appealing status as a true two-way player and a football prodigy.

However, those are just estimates. The fact that Travis Hunter will be playing two positions implies that he could make even more money.

Now with all the money, Travis Hunter has the power to live his dreams. Not only his, but his mother’s too. It’s not a surprise since we’ve seen him gift his mom her dream house in the past after signing a substantial NIL deal.

Recently, his mother has shared her plans to start giving back to the community.

Hunter’s Mom Plans to Give Back to the Community

Ferrante Edmonds is planning to start a mission to give back to the community where she belongs and where she came from. Speaking in a recent interview, she made fans aware of her big plans:

“I’m expecting to see what all is out there for a mom of an NFL player to see if there is any community service I can do for my community. Not just my community here, but also my community back home in Florida. Yes, I may reside in Georgia, but it’s not where it all started.”

Besides having plans to uplift youths in Georgia, her heart is more drawn to Florida, where she came from. By going back to her roots, she wants to do more than just community service – make a bigger impact on as many people by creating awareness regarding talent.

“I would like to go back where it started and pour into my community. Bring more you know, awareness, bring more people out to support these young men and these young women that are coming up and not great environments… just need somebody to see them for who they truly are…and uplift them and actually help them be successful in whatever they pursue.”

She added that during her time, many people weren’t willing to recognize and nurture talent. Instead, she says many would not realize those who were gifted, and the few who mostly hindered talented youths from establishing themselves.

With that in mind, she’s focused on changing the narrative. Her mission is simple: reach out to the vulnerable youths whose talents have been hidden, support them, and help them use those gifts to become successful.

“So I’m more here to help those that are being overlooked and not booked and not appreciated and not pushed and not cultivated, and not elevated, and not poured into and encouraged. So, it’s a lot that’s about to go down because I have a very big God that sits up high and looks down low.”

Although Travis Hunter may have been a little privileged to have a strong mother like Ferrante Edmonds by his side, while also getting mentored by Cam Newton and Coach Prime early in his career. Many don’t get to see their talents blossom the same way. But with this new mission, Edmonds wants to change this once and for all.
