The Jacksonville Jaguars were locked in on Travis Hunter from the start of the 2025 NFL Draft, and they’re more than satisfied with that decision.
From the moment he arrived, Hunter impressed everyone in the building with his work ethic, humility, and infectious energy. His talent was undeniable, but it was his character that truly stood out.
Even Jaguars’ Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Tony Boselli, a franchise legend, praised Hunter not just as an athlete, but as an exceptional human being and teammate.
Jaguars EVP Commends Travis Hunter as an Exceptional Human Being
Tony Boselli had nothing but praise for Travis Hunter, not just as a player, but as a person. “He’s a supreme athlete with amazing body control,” said Boselli, acknowledging Hunter’s elite physical gifts. But what truly stood out to Boselli was Hunter’s character.
“My favorite thing that I’ve seen, and we believed this when we drafted him, is the type of human being he is. The competitive nature, the desire to be great as an individual, a good teammate.”
Despite the hype surrounding Hunter and his rare ability to play both offense and defense, Boselli emphasized the rookie’s humility was impressive: “He doesn’t separate himself out from the rest of the rookies or the rest of his draft class.” Boselli concluded by highlighting Hunter’s infectious joy and strong values, calling him “everything I expected.” From his perspective, it’s clear the Jaguars see Travis as more than just a star athlete.
Boselli Credits GM James Gladstone for the Strategic Trade
Tony Boselli was quick to shine the spotlight on General Manager James Gladstone for the Jaguars’ bold move to draft Travis Hunter. He emphasized that the vision and execution of the trade were all Gladstone’s doing.
“It was James who led it, and it was James who put the deal together,” Boselli said, making it clear that the front office’s success started at the top. The Jaguars gave up significant draft capital to move up and secure the No. 2 pick, a move that required both confidence and calculated risk.
Boselli added, “I give James a ton of credit for his leadership through the entire process and how he envisioned it, and how he put it together.” His praise paints a picture of a GM with a clear plan, the courage to act on it, and the trust of the organization to make franchise-defining decisions.
The Jaguars Legend: Tony Boselli
Tony Boselli is more than just a front office executive for the Jaguars. He’s the embodiment of the Jaguars’ history. Boselli himself, just like Travis Hunter, was selected second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 1995 NFL Draft, which is why he clearly understands the immense expectations placed on a top draft choice. Before joining the NFL, he starred at USC and won the Morris Trophy in 1994, cementing his reputation as a dominant force on the offensive line.
During his NFL career, Boselli became one of the most respected players in Jaguars history, earning five Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro honors. He helped lead the team to two AFC Championship Games and was inducted into the Jaguars Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2022, his No. 71 jersey became the first ever retired by the team.
Now, as Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Boselli brings unmatched insight both as a Hall of Famer and a Jaguars’ veteran.
