Shedeur Sanders vs Dillon Gabriel: Browns Insider Claims the QB Competition “Is Not Close”

When the Browns drafted two QBs in the NFL, everyone was surprised. But the real shocker was seeing the Browns pick Dillon Gabriel earlier in the 3rd round, only to select Shedeur Sanders later in the 5th.

With the Browns accommodating five QBs in their room, fans started to think that Shedeur was left to fail in Cleveland. Getting picked in the fifth round is nothing short of a nightmare since players drafted late don’t get as many opportunities to prove themselves.

For the rookies, becoming a starter is seen as a long shot, especially when the team has a safety net in a veteran like the Browns have with Joe Flacco. But it’s certainly not impossible.

Luckily for Dillon Gabriel, he may have an upper hand over Shedeur on this, but only if he can give Shedeur a hard time in the QB competition. But as a Browns insider claims, the competition between the two rookies is not even close.

Shedeur Sanders vs Dillon Gabriel

Many NFL fans are expecting Shedeur Sanders to put up a serious competition against Dillon Gabriel. But surprisingly, the two don’t seem ready to get into such a battle. In fact, they’re keeping up their top-level game and are focused on the team’s success.

But that doesn’t mean the best won’t come out. By observing their natural moves, especially how they throw the ball, a Browns Insider noted that the competition isn’t even close. From their gameplay, Shedeur Sanders has proved his unmatched prowess with his arm talent.

“I was impressed by the way Shedeur threw the ball. It jumps off his hands and spins it. This is what an NFL quarterback is supposed to look like. I remember one thing…at one point, when it was Shedeur’s turn, Stefanski calls him over to relay a play call and Shedeur goes in the huddle [to relay the play call], commanded the team, and get everyone lined up in the correct position. This is what the coaches are evaluating on.”

Judging from his outstanding performance at the rookie minicamp, it’s conclusive that the former Colorado QB can get a place on the roster and possibly earn himself the starting job.

However, the insider doesn’t want to draw firm conclusions yet. Since it’s just the rookie minicamp where they play with no pads and don’t use their extreme speed, the two QBs have yet to show their real strength.

Dillon Reacts to Shedeur Comparisons

While different opinions are stirring up conversations around the Browns’ rookie QBs, Dillon has maintained his composure. And that’s clear from how he responded to questions about NFL fans who are already comparing his reps to Sanders at rookie minicamp. He said:

“I think the more questions I get asked like that, it just divides the team,” he said. “For me, we’re in a room full of not just us – Kenny, Joe, and Deshaun. For us, we know how important a healthy QB room is. But also, a team that you want to be a part of. How do you create an environment every single day where everybody can be their best? That’s just pushing one another, which talent naturally does. Naturally, it’s healthy. For us, we all go do our thing, and everyone wins.”

Dillon’s answer came as a shock even to the reporter, with many people expecting the questions to trigger an emotional comment. One thing is clear. He admits the competition, but he’s ready to use the pressure to build their team strong rather than using it to fuel disputes that would dismantle its unity and success.

However, Shedeur Sanders hasn’t spoken about the ongoing tension. It could be, he’s not interested in the buzz, or he’s planning to surprise fans later in the field.

Being drafted way down the list after Dillon Gabriel may not seem like a big deal. However, it shows the Browns’ priority. Although he also got the shot, Shedeur Sanders could be planning to make moves beyond fans’ expectations later in the field. Or, why do you think Shedeur hasn’t addressed the competition buzz?
