The 2024 season was nothing short of legendary for the Colorado Buffaloes, thanks to the electric performances of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.
These two didn’t just light up the field; they brought national attention back to Boulder in a way fans haven’t seen in years. And the hardware proves it.
Shedeur’s strong arm and leadership earned him top quarterback honors, while Travis Hunter had a monster season on both sides of the ball, snagging the Paul Hornung Award, multiple All-American nods, and even finishing as the Heisman winner. His versatility and grit turned heads across the country.
With so many accolades stacking up, especially for Hunter, fans have been wondering: where’s all this trophy love going to live? Recently, Colorado Athletic Director Rick George was asked that very question about the school’s plan for showcasing this historic collection of awards. His answer didn’t disappoint. George pulled back the curtain just enough to tease what’s coming, and let’s just say he’s not letting this moment pass quietly.
Rick George Reveals Trophy Showcase Plans
Rick George recently shed light on what the University of Colorado is doing to honor the incredible 2024 season, especially the trophy haul brought in by Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Speaking to DNVR Sports, George confirmed that CU is making major updates to its Legacy Hall to properly showcase the players’ accomplishments.
“If you walk into our Legacy Hall right now, there are no trophies in there,” George said. “We’ve had to redo that whole place because there are some awards we had not received before. We’ve got two Heismans now. So we’re changing that whole area down there, and it’s going to be a really great showcase.”
But originally, the plan was even more ambitious in cementing Travis’ legacy. George admitted they seriously considered giving Travis his own dedicated trophy room. “We talked about just giving him his own room, cuz he got every award out there,” he added.
But eventually, the team opted to go a different route. “We decided not to do that,” George added, “but it’s going to be on display down there by the time the season starts.”
The transformation is clearly meant to match the magnitude of what Travis and Shedeur brought to CU. And while Hunter may not have his own room, having a hall filled with majorly his trophies, that’s next level.
