Tyreak Sapp is a football player who plays defensive end for the Florida Gators. Now with his last name, there’s been a growing curiosity about his relationship with the Hall of Famer, Warren Sapp, who played defensive tackle for the Miami Hurricanes in the early 90s.
Since both of them play the same position and are from Florida, one may get curious as if there is a relation between the two.
Are Tyreak Sapp and Warren Sapp Related?
A lot of assumptions have been made that Tyreak Sapp is indeed related to Warren Sapp. Some unverifiable posts have hit social media platforms with untrue claims. For instance, a Facebook post shared Warren Sapp’s photo, then captioned it: “Yet his nephew Tyreak Sapp plays for the Florida Gators.”
To clear the air from the confusion and curiosity about his relationship to Warren Sapp, Tyreak Sapp has made it very clear that they’re not related. Tyreak on his X (formerly known as Twitter) bio has clearly stated, ‘Tyreak Sapp STA c/o 2021 DE/LB not related to Warren (Sapp).’
So, while some people out there might be trying to create confusion, Tyreak Sapp’s bio is clear confirmation that he is not related at all to the NFL Hall of Famer. He’s neither his son nor his nephew, as some unreliable sources indicate.
In fact, Warren Sapp has six kids from 4 baby mamas. Out of the six kids, it’s only Warren Carlos Sapp II who has ventured into the world of football, making him the only one in Warren’s immediate family who plays football.

As Tyreak Sapp carries on his outstanding football performance, featuring an explosive initial step and the ability to win matchups inside and outside the edge, fans and football experts alike are having high hopes for him leading the Gators’ defensive front in 2025.
Although Tyreak may not be related to Warren, he did have a mentor in Ex-Hurricanes DE and NFL Hall of Famer, Jason Taylor. Tyreak refers to Taylor, who currently coaches Miami, as his “football father.”
Coming out of the 2025 season as a leading defensive player, the Gators will place Tyreak in a strategic position to get drafted in the 2026 NFL Draft.
